This project
Autonomy Through Cyberjustice Technologies
just launched. It is out of the University of Montreal with a major grant from Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The working groups and subprojects are very thorough; the scope is well considered.
I had two questions. First, what massively distruptive AI techology are we talking about in the justice system that now might give rise to inequities and concerns about a tilted playing field? Has Canada invented Precogs?. Second, that is a vast faculty of academics, government, quasi-government, public interest groups and companies; it’s a great start but does it feel like there is an absence of people who would actually interact with these technologies in practice?
